How can the Basic Drone Pilot Course benefit me?

This course is priced at $420 (SkillsFuture Credit Eligible) and takes 1 day to complete.

This course enables the Beginner Pilot experience flying professional level drones. This is a hands-on course and you will have supervised flight training throughout. This course opens a world of opportunities as to what can be done with Drones.

This course is good for those entering the industry, who want to learn basic Drone piloting skills and to comply with CAAS (The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore) Drone legislations and regulations in Singapore. You get to fly several types of Drones with and without GPS in an indoor and outdoor environment. Anyone can attend this course with no prior Drone experience needed.

How can the Advanced Drone Pilot course benefit me?

This professional level course is priced at $1,250 ($980 for those who have completed the Basic Drone Pilot Course) and takes 2 days to complete.

The course is designed for those who have attended the Basic Drone Pilot Course or have clocked more than 16 hours of Drone flight time.

You will learn in depth, the different aspects of Drone piloting. You will get much more hands-on flying of Drones with guidance from our instructors. You will learn to optimise your flight skills for the environment in which you are flying. You will learn to use specific applications and software to aid your flight. You will learn industry specific core modules to enable you to fly safely in various critical environments. It is for people aspiring to work as a professional Drone/Remote Pilot and to develop their career in the Drone industry.

There are many different professions you could pursue when you learn to fly a Drone professionally. These include Aerial Photography/Videography, Aerial Surveying, Aerial Inspection, Security Inspection and Construction Mapping to name but a few.

Those who attend the Advanced Drone class include employees of companies who use Drones in their work, civil servants and individuals who want to advance their Drone piloting skills.

Am I a qualified pilot once I pass the Advanced Drone Pilot Course?

The UAV Operator Permit is issued by CAAS. On completion of the course, trainees will receive a certificate of Remote Pilot Competence. This Certificate is uploaded to CAAS in recognition of UAV Remote Pilot training. You can then proceed to apply for a test date with CAAS for your UA Operator Permit. Refer to the CAAS website (www.caas.gov.sg). The competency of passing the test depends on your experience and skill in operating the Drone on the test date.

What is the total Cost Per Trainee Pilot?

The total investment for the two courses will be $420 (SkillsFuture Credit Eligible) for Basic and $980 for Advanced = $1,400 per trainee for 3 (three) days.c

How much practical hours do each participant get for each of the course? Is the drone DJI shared among the entire class?

a) The Basic Drone Pilot at $420 (SkillsFuture Credit Eligible) is a One-day course

The morning is classroom based including indoor flying with the SYMA Drone. In the afternoon, students get to learn to fly a DJI Drone as a team at our designated flying field, depending on the weather.

b) Advanced Drone Pilot $1,250 ($980 after passing the Basic Drone Pilot Course) is a Two-day course

All trainees get to fly the DJI Drones, depending on the weather. There are 2 trainees to 1 Drone.  There are 10 hours of actual outdoor flying during the 16-hour course, depending on weather. We will take you through all manoeuvres necessary to pass the CAAS UOP Licence.

Any other funding / subsidy for the Advance Drone course?

At the present there is no funding for the Advanced Drone course

Do I need to get additional certifications for the CAAS operator permit if I already attended the SkillsHQ Academy Advanced Drone Course?

UAV Operator Permit is issued by CAAS. Once you complete our Advanced Drone Pilot Course and pass, you can proceed to apply for a test date with CAAS for your UA Operator Permit. Refer to the CAAS website (www.caas.gov.sg). The competency of passing the test depends on your experience and skill in operating the Drone on the test date.

Regarding SkillsFuture Credit claim matter, do I pay for the course fee first then claim from Skill Future?

For the Basic Drone Pilot Course, once you registered online, an email will be sent to you stating the process for submission for SkillsFuture Credit using your SingPass. If you have funds left in the SkillsFuture Credit, you need not pay first. Make your claim first then pay SkillsHQ Academy if you do not have enough SkillsFuture credit in your account.

Do you help with the company UAV SOP Manual?

We take the time to understand your company, your business activities and develop your company UAV SOPs and Safety Management Systems.

The following documents are required for the application of the CAAS Operator Permit (OP):

a) UAV SOP & Safety Management System

b) Operation Document;

 

The Operation Document should include the following information:

(1) Illustration of the type of operation/activity to be conducted:

  • Equipment(s) used to communicate and control the UA, as well as additional systems that are installed, should be included

(2) Unmanned Aircraft (UA) and Ground Control Station (GCS) specifications:

  • Equipment(s) used to communicate and control the UA, as well as additional systems that are installed, should be included

(3) Picture(s) clearly showing the UA and what is/are being carried by aircraft (if applicable).

(4) Details on emergency procedures and flight checks carried out for all envisage operations of the UAS.

(5) Maintenance & defect plan with a description of maintenance performed or to be performed on the UA.

(6) General procedures for incident or accident reporting.

(7) General procedures for management of casualties arising from any incident or accident.

(8) For customised UA, to provide documents supporting design considerations and analysis and test records conducted to validate UA design.

(9) Aviation UAV Risk Assessment

Do you help with the submission of UOP Permits?

Yes, our Chief Remote Pilot will assist you in submitting your Operator Permit and your first Activity Permit*

Can I Borrow DJI Phantom 4 Drones from SkillsHQ for my CAAS UAV Flight Test?

Participants who have passed our Advanced Drone Pilot Course will be able to borrow one of our DJI Phantom 4’s for their CAAS Flight Test / UA Operator Licence (UPOL).

A Security Deposit of $200 will be required.

Do I get Free flight training after I attend the SkillsHQ Advanced Drone course?

Yes, after completing the Advanced Drone Pilot Course, students can receive three (3) additional one on one free training sessions at our designated flying field with our Chief Remote Pilot to prepare for the CAAS UOPL test.

Do you provide Insurance cover?

Yes, we do. Please refer to www.carerefresh.com/skillshq for the details.

How do I make PAYMENT for the Advanced Drone class?

Payment of course fee are to be made Two weeks before the class date.

You can drop by our office to pay by Nets, send us a cheque or pay by bank transfer as follow:

Assuming the class is going to be full, you may lose your seat if you have not made payment, and someone else pays up first.

Am I Able to pay by cash on the class day itself?

We DO NOT accept cash payment on the day itself.

Course Fee are to be paid two weeks before the course date.

Payment can be made by Bank Transfer or By NETS at our office. See above for Bank Transfer details.

You may lose your seat if you have not made payment.
